I opened this bookstore with the help of a webmaster, Paul from Eggplant software. He was in the hospital the last time I spoke with him.
The company called Hint was created from my memoirs' title, "A Hint of the truth." It was my first book. Short stories. My memories as a child, and a growing adult.
My main attraction is Fascination: I am a patriot. It's a poetry collection. There isn't much of a pause between countries. It's a little Jumpy and loaded with facts and descriptions. One country right after the other. I convey the essence I captured in my studies.
My son was in elementary school, and they celebrated Kwanzaa at school one day. I didn't know anything about Kwanzaa. In order to celebrate with him, I needed to figure out what people did during Kwanzaa. So I bought an encyclopedia of holidays and there were holidays for every country. Different celebrations for different places. It was a country by country encyclopedia of holidays. I decided to study one country at a time. Simply, I had time to, to write. I wrote poems because they would be shorter and I thought, easier to write down things I learned. It was not that easy to paint the picture. Write poems to teach. I worked a little everyday for 10 years. When I finished reading I had a lot of help from good poets like Carol Lee Saffioti - Hughes from the blog post, In her shoes, and Wisconsin's famous poet, Stephen Kalmar.
From what I've heard, is you should look forward to going through Fascination more than once, in order to learn from it.
I went to school to be a teacher. Teacher's didn't have a test to be a teacher until the early 2000's. I had to take it, and I didn't pass.
Point is, I am trying to teach the reader more than the facts. Also a sense of emotion for others.
All of the reading I did to imagine what it'd be like to be somewhere else is an irreplaceable experience.
I got such a feel for places. And now I can see the diversity and our common grounds.
I urge you to listen to Fascination.
We gain from what we pay attention to and lose out on what we don't.
Learn something new everyday.
I kept a journal for two years. 2012-2014. An entry everyday and typed it up. It's called Conversations with God.
I took out the dates and did some editing of the journal entries. The days are intertwined.
Journaling taught me that, even with change, the way I feel doesn't change much, in meditation and in all reality.
I was recovering from dual addictions and dealing with mental illness.
I was a member of the local church for 7 years. I really got strong in my faith as I read and studied the bible.
I prayed until I was able to see God as a companion.
My last book, 365 Day to celebrate is about celebrations.
There are at least 3 reasons to celebrate everyday.
Fast facts, fun times, sad stories, traditional, religious and other holidays.
365 Days to Celebrate is based on the 2025 calendar.
